A non-excerpt from Baby Name Wizard 2

Jul 17th 2009

As the revised and expanded Baby Name Wizard slowly trickles in to bookstores, I thought I'd share one name spotlight that was cut from the manuscript at the last minute:

Gax (GAKS)
Popularity: Rare
Style: Fanciful and Fantastical
Nicknames: FatMan
Sisters: Moo, Spamela, Beer, Soup, John
Brothers: Flax, Vilx, Clax, Eleanor, Xax
Gax is a name you should not give to your child at all.
It's only in the book because my kids are beside me as
I'm writing and they absolutely insisted.  Keep this in mind,
prospective parents, if you're planning to work from home.

BabyComingSoon: I think Noah is a great name. I know a few of various ages--so I don't *think* it will be dated... I guess I would not be surprised at him having to be Noah S (or whatever).

Linnea (pronounced lin-NAY-ah)is my name. I didn't used to like this name because I would have to correct most everyone when they said it. But after seeing the Linnea flower (state flower of Sweden) small pink (bluebell type)flower, I really love it now. I also have a small amount of the Linnea perfume, but I would like to find a new bottle of it. Can anyone help me?

my son's first and middle name were in the top 10 of that list. his father & i had a big laugh then decided that list isn't in anyway telling us he will be a "bad boy" - it is too funny!

I read this a while ago (almost a year) and I still feel a twist in my stomach when I read it.  As an English teacher, Paxtyn Jane it is clearly not a typo.  It  might look weird to you, but really?  Does it matter how it looks to you? Good thing she is beautiful, or I might be worried about what narrow minded, mean people who give a damn about what other people name their children.

I wish you the best, and wish you would give names that you don't agree with less of a label.
