When I landed on the page, my eyes first jumped to the bullets. When I saw Quinny Zapp Xtra Stroller I said to myself, "That must be a girl's name!" Can I enter this into next year's pool?
Quinny! A new "cute" version of Quinn? :-)
BTW, even if you're not looking to win a baby shower, the thread is worth checking out. Very interesting to see what names people dream of!
The package seems to be very full of good things. Unfortunately I can't get it((
Rafaella is the one for me. I love that name - it sounds so romantic, unsual, but not so difficult to pronounce, etc. But it sounds terrible with my very Irish last name and it's just a little too lacy to suit the family tastes.
My husband loves the name "Macallan," a Scottish surname. While I really like the way it sounds, and love the nickname "Mac," I have a difficult time with its association with the whiskey. People either think it's great, or else look at us like we're crazy for even considering it.
sadly can't enter as I don't live in the US. But that being said 2 names I have always loved but would never use are
Zephyn and Quaid.
Zephyn I love the sound and style... but its a little out there and my husband would never go for it in a million years. Also sounds too made up.
Quaid- Again love it.. but worried it would always be missprounced for Quad. A little too quirky and maybe just too strange for my actual tastes... but still love it deep down.
I love the name Delilah, but I have gotten such a negative reaction to the name, I am afraid to use it. Onto the name Sarafina!
Helena. I love the name. In my head the strongest association is with Shakespeare, but I can't get over the fact that it's the capitol of Montana.
I have always loved the name Grace and flower names like Lily or Violet, but I married into the surname 'Grass' rendering all these names cruel to actually use on a child.

Clementine - I think it is ADORABLE, but everyone acts like it is stupid : (
Clementine! I think it is precious, but people act like it is a ridiculous name when I mention it : (
Zella.
I found this name reading this post about a gardener's mother who loved nasturtiums.
For me, this name evokes a curious, intelligent, and happy person. Some might find it too dusty and grandmotherly, though. Can't we bring this lovely name back?
McHenry- for my daughter. My maternal parents have both passed away and my cousin named her daughter after our grandmother (Emma) so I wanted to honor my grandparents but everyone looks at me like i'm crazy when I mention the nam
August ..it has special meaning as I met my husband in August and we are expecting our son in August. The two most important men in my life have come to me in August however it's a little too literal for an August baby and may comeoff as stuffy??!!
Georgia and Carolina- my husband is very much against naming our daughter after a state! I think they are beautiful and romantic.
I love the name Phoebe. The first time I told my mother I wanted that name she looked at me and said, "Really?" Along with a few other people who had given me that look like, "ok??" so I think I will be steering clear of that name even though I really like it.
My husband and I are history geeks and we love the name "Leonidas," however, we decided that the name was to strong of a name to live up to... Imagine a teacher taking attendance for the first time...Leonidas! Love it!!
I think Phoebe is a beautiful, classical name. And one from Shakespeare's play "As You Like It".
My cousin called her little girl Phoebe and I think it was a lovely choice. Would definitely reconsider...
Hello. I'm a 22 years old future father. My daughter arrives in ten weeks.
We're seriously thinking about a name with my love, but, i don't know, i'ts very pretty for me, but it sounds really like an very old name, and it does not fits to everyone...
I'm just wondring i'f it could be really a good name for my little sweetheart.
Thanks for reading and even more i'f answering.
I would love to use Annasophia! I just keep feeling the need to explain that it would be the FIRST name.
Zelious is my son's name
Since I was a child I loved the name Aleta. There was Princess Aleta in the Prince Valiant story.
Not entering but, I always wanted a little girl to name after my grandmother: Lottie Mae short for Charlotte Marie. I just love old fashioned names.
I'm not sure what name you are thinking of?! Was it included in the post?
I happen to love old fashioned names, but there are a few that even I would definitely stay away from.
I really like that name. We used Duncan, my mother-in-law's maiden name, as my son's middle name. And my daughter is now using it as her son's middle name.
Don't let other people poopoo your choices. My son's first name is William, and I wanted to call him Liam and I didn't because people looked at me cross-eyed. No w I really wish that I had.
Natasha Denee
My friend named her daughter Justi Nikole, I love that name. I would love to name my daughter that but afraid she would think I stole the name.
My husband and I love Olive but it takes a special person to be able to carry a name like that and usually that person is rich and beautiful and probably famous.
My husband loves the name Loki for a boy where I love Prudence for a girl. Another name I like is Liberty Alice Bell. But so far no one likes any of these names.
Our first son is named Arthur, and I had a little trepidation naming him that, but since it had special meaning for my husband I conceded and got to compromise with the middle name being Jospeh. He can go by A.J. if he wishes . . . I just didn't want him entering the second grade to be teased as "Art the fart."
We had a stillborn child this past January, which we named William, for my great-grandfather . . . we stuck with the old-fashioned names that bear a little history with them.
Right now, I am pregnant with yet another boy, I am going back and forth between Alan or Everett, again both pulled from the family archives. I am not really keen on Alan, but my husband and I can agree on it. My husband, Grant, is a little leary of Everett (even though it is his middle name). I love the name for the reason my husband shies away from it - the nickname: Rhett. We will see who wins . . .
I love Freyja-- Norse goddess of love, beauty, fertility, gold, sorcery, war and death. According to Wikipedia. She also has a cloak of falcon feathers, a wild boar, a necklace, and a chariot pulled by cats. This is all totally badass, but seems a bit much for a baby, and I'm afraid it would be a lot for her if she doesn't have a warrior goddess type personality. And we are not of that heritage so it would probably seem weird. But I still like it!
My girlfriend and I both loved the idea of naming our daughter Indigo. It seemed pretty well suited for someone that would most likely have dark features and hair as we do. However we got negative reactions, yet both of us still secretely want to name her that.
My husband and I have been having trouble coming up with a girl name that we both love. One name we both agree on is Ellie. I think Ellie would make a great nickname. So today THE name came to me... Ellavie (ELLA-V) loving it!!!
Ellavie (ELLA-V)
What does anyone think of Dagmara for a girl? It sounds weird and I actually thought it was ridiculous myself when I first heard it, but it's grown on me to the point of obsession. People think I'm crazy...
I am 3 weeks pregnant (just found out) and if we have a girl, I really want to name her Xaiya Leigh (Zya Leigh). I love that name but It seems a little bit too different? I just might go with it
We're due a baby girl in the next 2-3 weeks. Our first daughter's name is Luna. Two names we both love but probably cannot use: Tobin (for a girl, Tobi for short...we were going to name our first daughter Tobin, but got bad reactions to that) and Marlowe (the name of one of Luna's friends from pre-school, so although we love it, we probably can't use it). Claire, Phoebe and Rita have made our shortlist, but we're not completely settled so are still looking for more. I also like Amelia, but Bedelia sort of ruined that one...
I love the name Winslow. It's very uncommon and rather winsome!
Toby is a nickname for Tobias.
Malachi for a boy - I love it! But my family thinks I'm crazy :o(.
I love the name Olive, but when I told my mom she said, 'Like Olive Oil?" I think it sounds old -timey, but others have said it sounds like a pizza topping.
