I named my son Aidrick <-- added a "k" in 2010. I get tons of compliments and don't know a single Aidrick nor have I heard of any other than on here and St. Aidric as well, which I added in the profile of this name :) I love MY Aidrick! Also, my sons last name is Bishop! St. Aidric was a Bishop... that was not on purpose.
We chose Aidric for our son's name in September 2008. We love that it is a balance between popular Aiden and classic Eric. We also like that it's only two syllables, easy to pronounce and fairly nick name proof. Everyone we meet loves the name. Lots of men have given their nod of approval saying it's a strong name. I wish I could find more information on it. All I've found is a reference to Saint Aidric from medieval times.
I named my son Aidric in 2000. For awhile I thought I made it up until I looked it up and saw there was a St. Aidric. I love the name! I think it is a very strong name and he is always getting compliments on it :)

We named our son Aidric in July 2008. We love the name and everyone seems to love it as well. It is one of those names that people repeat and then say, "wow I really like that name where did it come from"? The name is different enough that he will probably be the only boy in his class and classes to follow with it, but not to different that it’s obnoxious.

Bishop and court diplomat, raised at Aix-la-Chapelle, Germany, the royal residence of Charlemagne. Aidric, or Aldericus, grew up serving Charlemagne and his son and successor, Louis. At twenty-one, Aidric left the honors of the court to study for the priesthood at Metz, France. After his ordination, he was recalled to the court by Louis. Nine years later he was made the bishop of Le Mans, where he became known for his sanctity and for his efforts on behalf of his people. When Louis died, Aidric supported Charles the Bald, one of Louis' sons fighting for the throne, and for this reason was forced out of Le Mans, only to be reinstalled by Pope Gregory IV. Aidric served as a legate to the court of King Pepin of Aquitaine, France, where he convinced that monarch to restore vast amounts of Church property stolen by the royal family. Aidric also took part in the councils of Paris and Tours. He was paralyzed for the last two years of his life.
