Ajax Telamon was a strong and brave warrior who led the Greeks in the Trojan War after Achilles withdrew. After Achilles returned, was killed, and his armor given to Odysseus, Ajax slew himself in a fit of jealousy. Ajax the Lesser, one of the swiftest runners in the Greek Army, was shipwrecked because he saved Cassandra from the altar of Athena.
