Since I don't know many Anguses personally, to me it sounds unusual almost aggresively Scottish. Like someone who would have kilts at his wedding and have a Scottish accent.
-I've been acquainted to 3 different Anguses. All 3 of them were tall, thin, and had red curly hair. I'm curious to know if anyone else has noticed the same. :P
- Personal experiences with the name Angus: | Edit
I cannot separate this name from Angus cattle, which is the most popular beef breed (as opposed to dairy breed) in the United States.
We named our son Angus, my Dad and Grandfather also had the name. He is now 8, and never have we had any problems with other kids making fun of it etc. He loves it and everyone who hears it remembers his name, which is what it is all about anyway. Seems parents now days are naming their kids all kinds of wierd names so Angus, while not really "Normal" doesn't seem to create any problems. We're glad we did it. Middle name is Alexander so we felt he could always go to Alex if he wanted, but we'll always call him Angus.
Or I actually related it to the Angus Young from ACDC who is one of the ripping guitarists ever.
I chose to name my son Angus because it is a big strong celtic name that is very easy on the American tongue.

Alexander McCall Smith's novel, "Dream Angus: The Celtic God of Dreams," will make you think of Angus as a sparkling, youthful, vibrant character. "Dream Angus" is a lullaby you can find on Itunes by several artists; it is about someone reassuring their crying baby that Dream Angus is on his way to help them sleep by bringing dreams - of love and freedom, in the version I like best. Various sources also call Angus Og the god of humor and wisdom, rather than love and dreams.
