Azure is blue in French. The word originates from spanish language.
Azurite is a multi shade of blue colored mineral.
Azure is often used to describe seas, oceans and the sky.- Personal experiences with the name Azure: | Edit
My son born in 2004 is named Azure. I had created this name from Azurite and the use of azure in describing waters and the sky. Because it actually means blue in French, I named my son Azure (blue), which is generally associated with boys. It sounded strong, exotic, beautiful, smart and unique. Had not found it used as a name after very extensive searching, but decided to use it as my son's name.
Interesting thing, you can tell how educated or worldly someone is by the name Azure, those who know it is blue (not necessarily speaking French) generally are more worldly, in my experience. I have only met a couple of people who have ever heard Azure as a name.- Nicknames for Azure: | Edit
