My boyfriend's name is Branden and I really like it a lot. Even though it was a trendier name, it feels historic to me, a la Charles Brandon, Duke of Suffolk and resident The Tudors hottie played by Henry Cavill. It's paired with his grandfather's name and I think it sounds rather distinguished: Branden Robert. When we first were introducing him to my family almost five years ago, he was known for a few months as "Branden With An 'E'". We both have names which were popular in the 1980s and 1990s, but which are one letter off from the most popular version (I'm Meghan "with an 'H'!"), and so it has been something we've laughed at a lot over the years. We've both gotten so worn down that we won't correct people when they misspell our names. The other thing that's difficult about the name Branden is that it doesn't lend itself toward nicknames.
