Brendan
Origin of the name Brendan:
Variant form of Branton, a surname that originated from English place-names composed of the Old English elements brom (broom, brushwood) and dun (hill): hence, “dweller near the brushwood hill.” Alter-natively, Brandon is a variant form of Brendan, an Angli-cized form of the Irish Breandán (prince). Our 7 year old is named Brendan. I like the name and it combines my husband's name (Brent) with my dad's name (Danny), which is cool. I do find there is some spelling confusion (Brandon, Brenden, Brendon) and a lot of similar sounding names in his school now, which I hadn't anticipated. It is easy to pronounce and suits our family well.
