All right, I can see the appeal of Brooklyn, but Bronx? Are Manhattan, Queens, and Staten Island soon to follow?

I've recently visited the Empire State and my experience was one of the best in my life. I know that Bronx is an unusual name, but now that I've been there, I can certainly see the appeal in such a name to one who loves the city so much. As for Manhattan, Queens, and Staten Island; who knows? I can sort of see Staten being a name, come to think of it!

Personal experiences with the name Bronx: | Edit

My son is named Bronx Knight. He is older than Ashlee Simpson's child....most people in my circle laughed at her naming her son that, with the middle name Mowgli. Blond-haired, blue-eyed Bronx? Get a reality check. This Bronx needs to be a track star....mine is the real deal.

Hello, as a person born and raised in The Bronx, let me give my two cents here.
Bronx, with the original spelling being Bronck, was the name of a Dutch settler to Old New York, or New Amsterdam. That being said, blonde and green-eye'd Bronx is an appropriate name for the child. Also, being born and raised in The Bronx with my family from there since the early 1900's, I can tell you it was a borough filled with European settlers, and many areas are still primarily caucasian.
Bronxites are very proud of our borough! With shoreline on the Long Island Sound and Hudson River, lush green parks and close proximity to NYC, it's a great place to live.
As far as naming a baby Bronx, in my opinion, I'd choose something else. It was an old Dutch landowners last name and now has a connotation to if of being tough, a been-there done-that type of name. As your kid grows up, other kids will confront him, try to fight him, see if he's as tough as his name.

Is that right? Parents should think of the pro's and con's of naming their child Bronx. And omg Pleeease Do Not name your daughter Bronx! Remember, that kid's gotta grow up with that name, and kids are innocent. Don't start your kid off on the wrong foot with having him have to defend himself because of his given name.
In fact, please Youtube the song, "A Boy Named Sue" by Johnny Cash before giving your kid that name.
And here's the Wiki link on Mr. Bronck.
