I love this name to death and I'm not really sure why. I've never met a Cadmus and there's that whole "cad" factor of it, but I really wish it was more widely used. I'd love to meet a baby Cadmus.

Cadmus of Miletus, a 6th century BC logographer
Cadmus of Kos, tyrant of Zancle, son of Scythes- Cadmus in song, story & screen: | Edit
Cadmus, in Greek mythology, was attempting to find and bring home his sister Europa (who had essentially been kidnapped by Zeus) when he came across a vicious serpent, which he slayed (though he never did succeed in his original task). He went on to found the city of Thebes. Unfortunately, the gods were so displeased by what he had done to their lovely serpent that they cursed his children and had them all lead short, miserable lives. Cadmus and his wife Harmionia left Thebes and lived a melancholy existence for a while -- until the day he said "well, if they care so much about a stupid serpent, why not make ME a serpent?" So they did.
Cadmus Peverell was the second of the "three brothers" in the Harry Potter series and the owner of the Resurrection Stone, which soon caused his untimely demise.
