Saw this on Name Candy and went to check it out on Nameipedia only to find that it didn't exist there. Seems to fit with the style so many parents are leaning toward these days so thought I'd add it.

My husband and I named our son Cavan. Pronounced CAV-AN. My father-in-law was born and raised in County Cavan, Ireland. I always thought it was a great name for a son and we got our wish. Although my son's name is often spelled wrong (Cavin, Calvin), he loves it and doesn't even mind when someone calls him Gavin or Kevin. I do correct people which sometimes can be uncomfortable but I always think its for my son's benefit so I persevere. We always get positive feed back when people learn his name and the origin. He's a fiery red head so I am proud his name suits his Irish heritage. We find ourselves and his teachers often call him "CAV". I have only heard of 2 other boy/man named Cavan in NJ...one about my age from Union County area and another from the Morris County Area approx. 12-15 years old. I recommend it for sure!
