Commodore was a US electronics company that played a vital role in the development of the personal computer industry in the 1980s. In 1982, Commodore developed and marketed the world's best-selling desktop computer, the Commodore 64.

Commodore is a fictional Starfleet rank in Star Trek. It is also a real rank in the Canadian Forces, the Finnish Navy, the Royal Navy, the United States Navy, and the United States Coast Guard.

The Commodore was a steamboat that shipwrecked off the coast of Florida in 1897; passenger and author Stephen Crane, who was traveling as a war correspondent, wrote the short story "The Open Boat" about his experience as a survivor of this wreck.
