miss_mills says: As soon as we saw our little fella, we knew he was a Dante. The only problem with his beautiful name in our experience so far (he's nearly one) is that a LOT of people seem to think there's an "O" in Dante and mispronounce his name. I'm not sure where this came from but it's NOT the correct pronunciation, I feel like adding an 'H' after the 'A' so people get it! It really drives us nuts but slowly people seem to be learning that he is Dante and not Donte (which sounds awful).
Dante says: miss_mills is incorect, Dante is pronounced with a soft O sound (or rather a AH sound); it is like the name don but with a "tay" sound at the end. It is not like the name Dan (Danny) with a "tay" sound at the end. The tope of the page shows how it is to be pronounced; the A makes the same sound as in father. Dante with an A sound is one urban bastardization of the original Italian name Dante with an O or AH sound.

Dae-dae...well, that is what he calls himself!
And in reply to the above comment, I'm sorry if that's how you pronounce the name, fine but I use the traditional italian for my son. (And I don't come from the US which may be why my "A" sounds different to yours. Here's how we say it...
