Our son was born in 2012 and we opted for Drew instead of Andrew because we liked the shorter more uncommon version, and why not name a kid what you are actually going to call him? It is easy to spell, pronounce, and not too common (no one at his daycare to my knowledge and even the nurse at the hospital said she hadn't had a drew in a long while. Overall we love it!
I have a brother named Drew, my parents were going to name him Andrew but a cousin was named that a month before. My other brother is named Elliott, so when saying it we say "Drew and Elliott", otherwise it sounds like "Elliot, Andrew". We don't want that to happen.
