My grandfather's name was Augustus Elvis. His nickname was Lefty, but many older relatives/friends referred to him as Elvis. No one ever made much of a deal about him sharing the name with a certain someone, because it was obvious that it was coincedence of a popular southern boy name. It was a memorable and fun experience to be asked if I was Elvis' granddaughter though!

This is an American creation of obscure origin that sounded fancy to parents a hundred years ago. Elvis is a rare survivor among that style, with similar names like Clovis long since...pardon me, what was that? Oh, THAT Elvis! Yes, forget everything else, the King rules this name absolutely. If your kid is the cool and confident type, he'll probably revel in the image.
