Hank: Meaning, Popularity, Origin of Baby Name Hank
Origin of the name Henry:
From the French Henri, from the German Heinrich, which is from the Old High German Haganrih (ruler of an enclosure), a compound name composed from the elements hag (an enclosure, a hedging-in) and rihhi (ruler), and from the Old High German Heimerich (home ruler), a compound name composed from the elements heim (home) and rik (ruler, king). The name, introduced by the Normans and borne by eight English kings, took the English vernacular form of Harry until the 17th century, when Henry became popular and Harry was used as the pet form.

I used to babysit a little guy named Hank.. he was without a doubt the sweetest most loving little boy I've ever known. The name just fit on him for some reason. Everyone called him "Hanky" and oh boy was he a little ladies man..! Now that I am pregnant.. and just found out it's a boy :) I am very much so considering the name Hank. My husband loves it, says he already sounds like a stud, and we both love one syllable names! It really is a cute name for a little one.. a classic!
I went to high with a guy named Hank. He had the tough-guy thing going.
