I was named after the lead on "The Big Valley" Tv Show. It was on from 1965 to 1969.
Richard Long Played Jarrod Barkley. My mom like the name and the odd spelling so in 1973 I was named after a guy in TV show. No nick names growing up.

Funny, my husband was named for exactly the same reason. His mother liked the actor and the unique spelling so she named him Jarrod in 1981. He and I have never met anyone else with that spelling, but obviously there are others out there. The only nickname he ever had was J-Rod, given by some guy friends when they were teenagers.

When I was in high school there was a boy in my homeroom class named Jarrod. We used to call him 'Red'.
