Personal experiences with the name Keirnan: | Edit

I would like to share my own personal experience having grown up with the name Keirnan. Back in the 80's there was this fad of naming your kid after some random last name that you thought sounded cool from some random country you though would be totally awesome to live in. Thus was the fad my parents fell victim to. Keirnan, Ireland, sweet - it means lord. Only presuming what they must have been thinking. I have since grown up learning to spell my name for pretty much everyone I met. I can't count the number of times my dad had to take me to the trophy shop to have my name corrected on a trophy i got. It's an odd sinking feeling when someone takes an interest in your name because you know they are going to ask what kind of name it is and inevitably you have to tell them that no, you are not actually Irish, (claiming my 1/128th or so Irish blood would be almost as pretentious as naming your kid Lord), your parents just thought the name was again, totally awesome. This is a fad that should have died in the 80's with so many countless others. So, to anyone using this website to pick out a name I just have to say - I sign my name K. Johnathan and all of my friends now know me as John.
