I know a German child named Kian born in 2008, his name is pronounced KEE-awn.
We have a son named Kian, born in 2005. We pronounce his name KY-an (like cayenne pepper). Before I delivered Kian, we were in Ireland for a conference and asked around about the pronunciation of the name. Everyone we spoke to said that while "Kee-an" is more common, "KY-an" is acceptable too. The Kee-an pronunciation comes from the family of names that produced Ian , while KY-an is from the family of names that produced Brian and Ryan (also spelled Rian in Gaelic).
