- Personal experiences with the name Lacy: | Edit
My name is Lacy and I am male. I was named after my grandfather who was born in 1925.
The nice thing about my name is it is incredibly unique. Other than my grandfather, I have never met another man named with a first name of Lacy and I have never had to share my name anyone else. I am in my 30s and I have only met three women with the name Lacy.
Some people have excited reactions when they learn my name. Other people are initially confused about the gender of my name. This has worked to my advantaged because it is a quick and easy test to determine who is a stranger and who is not.
As people become more familiar with me, they often shorten my name to Lace. I tend to think of Lace as an ungendered nickname. I associate Lace with shoe laces more than the fabric.
At one point, I considered shortening my name to Ace and using it unofficially as my first name. However, Lacy is my grandfather's name and I decided it was too valuable and special not to use everyday.
