I much prefer this for a girl's name. Was going to name my daughter this, if I had one...had two boys instead so never used the name!

Personal experiences with the name Lane: | Edit

I'm a 36 year old male; didn't personally know anyone who shared my name growing up - still don't, actually. I don't mind having a unique name for my particular age & sex, but it's annoying that many people want to spell it as "Layne" or "Lance"; and as it's somewhat gender neutral, I've received mail addressed to "Ms. Lane". And in elementary school? Lane is a very "rhyme-able" word, so I got stuff like "Lane the pain with the big fat brain, riding on the train..." etc., etc. At least it's better than my parents' first choice for my name :)

My husband's name is Lane! I've always loved it and I think it sounds classy, smart and sexy. I love the name for a boy, though I'm definitely not crazy about it for a girl, sounds a bit contrived. He is 28 and extremely intelligent, creative, and attractive. People always love his name. Sometimes over the phone people hear it as "Wayne", but other than that he's never had any problems!
