I know a man named Lauren, and he pronounces it LAWR-in, not LOR-enne. It sounds masculine to me anyway. Nice name for a guy, ugly for a woman.

My name is Lauren, and I'm a girl, but I'm named after my grandfather though he, my uncle, and my great grandfather were all named that except they all spelled it Loren.

Growing up, it was assumed I was female, so I was given a female locker partner, girl's gym and home economics in high school. But I really like having the name as it is independent and unique to my personality. My son named his first-born son after me, so the name Lauren will continue as a male's name.
