Personal experiences with the name Nathaniel: | Edit

We chose Nathaniel as our sons name and it fits him. We do call him Nate as he is only 2, but deep down he is a serious soul, and I associate Nathaniel with being serious and studious. My only complaint is that people love to call him Nathan. Even family members. It drives me up the wall! It's not that hard - Nate or Nathaniel! That is my one complaint that I was totally not expecting when we chose this name.

I married a Nathaniel. He goes by Nate or even Nathan. Funnily enough, my name (Dorothy) means the same thing - "gift of God." I guess we're gifts to each other.

The few guys I know with the name Nathaniel have anger issues. They seem to have a really hard time controlling their anger. While they are very, very smart, they tend to think that they know everything. And they try to make other people 'better' by 'teaching' them how they 'should' be. Even though I love them both, they can be very demanding, attention seekers, and always showing off or showing people up.
On the plus side, they are smart, they tend to look into things before they pick sides, and as soon as they decide they like something/someone, they stand by it/them. Likewise when they decide they don't like something. They are really loyal, and total sweethearts when it comes to the women they love, and seem like they would fight to death to protect what they love.

One of my friends ended up with the nickname 'Nay-Nay' from his niece, who couldn't say his name. It's stuck for years-He acts like he hates it, but I think he kind of likes it.
