- Personal experiences with the name Ove: | Edit
My son's middle name is Oveson (my maiden name) and since he shares his first name with his dad, we call him Ove. We love the name. Ove is the name of my first Danish ancestor to come to America. It means "blade" in old Norse. "Blade" is very manly and our son is all boy. My husband is an engineer and an environmentalist, and OVE is an acronym for Optimum Value Engineering, which means advanced framing techniques that lower material and labor costs and improve energy performance for building. OVE is also the Department of Sustainability in Denmark. For all these reasons, we think Ove is the perfect name for our son and we hope that people are open to it.
