Remus (c. 771 BC–c. 753 BC)and his brother Romulus (c. 771 BC[1–c. 717 BC)] are the traditional founders of Rome, appearing in Roman mythology as the twin sons of the priestess Rhea Silvia, fathered by the god of war, Mars. The two brothers were taken in and raised by a She-wolf as babies and in later years it is said that Romulus slayed Remus for Rome. There is a statue standing in Rome of baby Remus and Romulus nursing from their mother She-Wolf today.
