Honestly, it sounds like a mash-up of "Riley" & "Ryan" to me. No offence to anyone who likes this name.

My husband found this name from a social security website. We wanted a name not so common. I didn't like it at first but it grew on me. We haven't met but two Rylan's. One is a girl. I do not like that it is considered a girl name too. We call him Ry Ry as his nickname.

Don't know why, but this name sounds like an eternal baby or toddler to me. Nothing grown-up about it. And I always wondered why not just choose the traditional names Riley or Ryan. Why must those names be combined.In fact, if you really wanted to, you could have two boys - Ryan AND Riley... still doesn't sound right together, though, with the two Rye-sounds... anyway, just my opinion. :)
