"Borrowed" by David Evans of Freyburg, Maine, a close friend of General George Shepley of the New Hampshire Militia, to serve as a given name for David's 12th child - a son - whom he named Shepley Wilson Evans. Successive decendent male offspring of this family line have been named Shepley with the middle name alternating between Wilson and Edward with each successive generation.
