Lissa and Silas are anagrams of each other; they contain the same letters.
Our first born son is named Silas. He was born in 2007. This name was uncommon then, but seems to be increasing in popularity. We chose it because we found it to be unique, and we loved the Biblical origin. Also, like others have mentioned, we love the Biblical account of Paul and Silas worshipping in all circumstances. We also love that while it's Biblical and carries a historical/literary air, it also feels modern and current.
We named our son Silas Glen and I love the name for it's biblical connection and because I had a great uncle by the name. I like that it is a recognized name but not too common. It has a rural/nature type feel to me and means man of the forest.
I can't be the only person who thinks this name sounds like "Silence".
- Personal experiences with the name Silas: | Edit
My husband and I decided to name our first son Silas. We love the story of Paul and Silas in the Bible-- how they continue to have joy and worship God through the hardest of circumstances, which is what we hope for our son. Silas also means "forrest" and my husband's middle name is Forrest. It's not common, but it's not a "made-up" name. We think it's perfect for our son!
I chose to name my second son Silas because I just fell in love with the name, I think it's the perfect name .. It's strong and unique and perfect for a little boy
