I have grown up with the name "Sver", pronounced Sv-Air. Its generally a lot easier for Americans/English speaking people to pronounce and say.

The American version of saying Sverre is pronounce Sv-Air-ee, which, yes, rhymes with Ferry. However I rarely heard that pathetic twist.

i named my son Sverre, for my morfar - when i explain the pronunciation, i say rhymes with Sara with a 'SV' & roll the Rs like in spanish. i dont like the 'ee', which innorwegain is the pronum=nciation for the letter 'i'. the american 'a' iis more similar sounding to the norwegian 'e' sound.
