Comments and insights on the name Thames: | Edit

Other than my son and me, I have never encountered use of this as a first name. I have seen it used as a last name.

I named my son Thames because it is my MIL's maiden name. Rhymes with James. Everybody loves it, but he prefers to be called T now that he is 11.

I am Thames, since 1969. It has a few drawbacks, English or American pronuciation? Tems is English, Tames is American. Shortened to Thami (I am a girl) and pronounced Tame-me.

Personal experiences with the name Thames: | Edit

My given name, and my sons.

We shortened it to T for sports reasons. He's 11 and we've never encountered anyone else with his first name. We live in Atlanta.

My name is Thames, and my dad nicknamed me Thami, pronounced tame-ee. I love it when I am called Thomas...easy mis-reading it, but, I am a girl!
