I got a lot of disgust in my name choice at first, but he's 10 now and it fits him. I can't imagine calling him anything else.

My son Waylon was born in 1980, (no computers, so must have been a name book). I did look up his name, before we named him. I cannot recall the origin, however, I do recall the meaning. It means "Son of the Wolf". Of course, once we told our strapping son the meaning, he never let us of forget! LOL.
We have also run into the same issue other people have had, did we name him after Waylon Jennings, (no), calling him Weiland, it's just a common thing. Of course pretty much these issues are during the school years.
We feel and felt Waylon to be a very strong name for our first son.
