My last name was Zander before I got married last year. I had heard of a distant relative named Alexander, whose nickname was Xander. Well, after I researched it, I found many boys named Zander, but no girls.

So my husband agreed to name our little angel (baby girl), Zander Jo. Since then we have met 3 other Zander's in our small town. Zander is a VERY common last name where we live...but mostly everyone loves it!

Zander is a European fish similar to the walleye.

When I named my 17 month old son Zander I had never heard of an actual person with the name. After he was born I came to find out that he actually has a distant cousin with that name.
