Famous real-life people named Alkelda: | Edit

Saint Alkelda (Feast day: 28 March) was an Anglo-Saxon princess and nun who lived c. 800 AD. According to legend, Alkelda was strangled by enemy women during Danish raids at Middleham in Yorkshire. Alkelda is patron of churches in Middleham and Giggleswick (in the latter parish, a number of girls were given this name in the Middle Ages).
