- Personal experiences with the name Allana: | Edit
Allana was my grandmother's name and is mine as well. I love it- it's unique but not weird or made up. I pronounce it Ah-la-na but many people pronounce it a-lawn-a which bugs me- but takes no more than a quick correction. As a child my family called me Lani and as an adult I mainly go by Lana for nicknames. The "worst" part of this name is that nobody spells it correctly. Nobody. I have to spell out my name for everyone- and even then they seem to have a compulsion to add an H to the end or cut out an L and add an N. It's easily pronounced in English and French. My father is Allan and only about 4 people in my life have made the connection- which I find hilarious.
