Pronounced: an-DRAY-uh You do not have my way. I have met 12 others who pronounce it this way. we were all born in the 70's. Please add this to your list. Each girl I have met, has met others with this pronunciation. Thank you! *************************************************************************************************************************************************** My daughters name is Andrea pronounced "Aun-Dray-Uh" . She's named after her dad Andrew . She's had the usual mispronunciations even from her dads side of the family . Usually people pronounce it "And Dree Ah" . Her family and friends call her "Dray" or "Drea" . She was born in 1999 & I haven't met anyone younger then her with the same name . When she was younger and people asked her name she'd always say "Andrea , & my daddies name is Andrew , he has a "W" and I have an "A" . Everyone got a laugh out of how cute it sounded .

Personal experiences with the name Andrea: | Edit

My name is pronounced on-DRAY-uh. i've found Andrea to be one of the only names in the world that maintains the same spelling with different pronunciations. unlike millions of ways to spell Katelyn and only one pronunciation. I've always rather liked my name, but if you're super picky about how people say it, it's probably not the right name for you. Two of my closest friends just can't get it right at all. One of them calls me ann-dray-uh and the other calls me on-dree-uh
my nickname as a little girl was Ondee. Which has elicited laughter when my family called me that as a teen.

i dont like or dislike my name. To me it is a very simple name, yet somehow people still seem to get it wrong. I have been called Amanda, audrey, sandra, amber...I used to want to change my name to something else. I guess overall i still dont particularly like it--its not a name i hear and go, oh that's a pretty name....

My name is pronounced Ohn-drea so I always ask how other people pronounce their's. I met a saleslady & asked her she pronounced hers Ann-drea & her twin pronounced hers Ohn-drea. I thought that was a really cute idea!

I don't enjoy having it as my name, because of the 3 pronunciations. I have a strong preference for the one my parents used, AND-ree-ah, but ohn-DRAY-uh and OHN-dree-uh are the ones people in the New York area default to. I've used Andi in my personal life since childhood and still do, but have always used the full name in business. I don't have kids, but if I had, I would have chosen names that don't have alternative spellings the way Catherine/Katherine/Kathryn does and don't have alternative pronunciation.
