My grandmother's name was Angeline. Most people called her "Ange" or "Angie". I just love the name - sophisticated, unique and beautiful. I wished it was my name, but Grandma hated it (haven't most of us hated our names at some point). She made me promise I wouldn't name my daughter after her. What I love about this name it's staying power. Sometimes people forget their adorable baby is going to become a grown woman - Angeline is a name for a confident, beautiful, grown woman. So, when my daughter was born (6 months after I lost my amazing grandmother), I gave her Angeline as her middle name - Grandma never said I couldn't use it as a middle name.

My birth name is Angeline. I ended up choosing to go by Angela because many people mispronounce my name. It was a difficult name to live with as a child because of this. As I've gotten older I've come to appreciate the uniqueness and originality of the name. I also am much more confident in correcting people when they are wrong in their pronunciations. My family chose to pronounce it Angelynn. I also like thinking, now that I am older, about the original French pronunciation and that it is sophisticated and kinda sexy. By the way, I also did some research and Angeline is actually a French period name...My middle name is Elizabeth. So in a way, I also really enjoy being named this....it translates to an angel or messenger of God and consecrated to god....another way to put it is a consecrated messenger of God....kinda cool...
My name is Angelyn / ahn- je- leen/ and I absolutely hate it when I was a child. It sounded too old for me, not cute and very unusual. But later on I just kinda accept it 'coz it's my name after all. When I discovered that it originates in France, I must say that it makes me happy. And when I learned that it is correctly pronounced as /anjleen/ I find it cool and very sexy and sophisticated. Now, every time people mispronounce my name, I correct them. Haha. Anyway, friends and family call me Gelyn or Ge (from Angge).
My mother is named Angeline. Her family nickname is Andy. Because the name is so uncommon people often (almost always) mistake it for and/or mispronounce it Angela, or Angelina. As noted by Angeline/Angela above, it can be difficult to live with. That's a shame, because it is a lovely old name.
