Personal experiences with the name Ashaya: | Edit

People are always very complimentary, and I have had people tell me they were planning on naming a child it after hearing it. However, people also frequently misunderstand my name and have trouble understanding what I am saying. They also misspell it. I usually use Ash or Shay when I am ordering food or meeting someone at a loud event.

Meanings and history of the name Ashaya: | Edit

Ancient Sanskrit: meaning "abode of the heart" or where the heart lies and takes refuge, home of the heart.

Hebrew: Similar to Yashayah.

Arabic: Ash Aya translates to (Living Miracle) or (Lived a Miracle). Made of two arabic words: Ash (Living) and Aya (Miracle or Prodigy)

Yoruba: Ashe/Ashay is used in chants, and generally defined as "the power to make things happen" and also refers to the spiritual life force that flows through things, much like the Chinese concept of chi. It can also be used to express agreement -- like saying "Right on!" or, "so let it be" and is used by Orisa worshippers in the way "amen" would be used by Christians following a prayer.
