Comments and insights on the name Ashton: | Edit

I decided to name my daughter Ashton in 1986. I thought about Ashley but just had a feeling there would be too many. The first time I heard the name it was on the miniseries, "The North and South Book Two". That was it. Until recently I never thought about this but both my and my daughter's names came from "southern bells".

Personal experiences with the name Ashton: | Edit

My sister's name is Ashton(1987). We didn't know any others growing up. On paper, she was often mistaken for a boy. She is sometimes mistakenly called "Ashley."

My older sister’s name is Ashton (1991). It’s now 2018 and I think I’ve met 6 other girl Ashton’s in person and have never met a guy named Ashton, tho she was often mistaken for a boy on paper or called Ashley or Asher. In school she was made fun of and called a lesbian for having a “boys name”, but that was only in high school where everyone is hormonal jerks.
We all personally love the name and I’d use it myself if it wasn’t my sister’s. Her sister’s names (including my own) are Kara and Kalen. If we were boys we were going to be Austin and Hunter.
