Derived from the Old French blanchir (to make white), which is from blanc (white). I have never in my 20 years ran into another person my age named Blanche. I hated the name when I was younger, but now that I'm grown, I like it. It's never a matter like "which Blanche?" because there's only one that any given person would know. In my whole high school of 5500 kids, I was the only one. My friends make up little nicknames that include my name in it like Blanchehills Blanchers or B-lanche or just B. I never got a nickname that was an abbreviation cause Blanche is only one syllable. SOMEONE ELSE NAME THEIR DAUGHTER BLANCHE! LET THERE BE MORE BLANCHES IN THE WORLD. By the time I die, someone else will have named their daughter Blanche because of me. That's a goal.
