Having this name definitely helps build ones character, you eventually have to take things in stride because you never hear the cotton pickin end of it. For me I just get tired of correcting after awhile and let people say whats comfortable. I only irritates me when a English major or a minister gets it wrong. Go figure it's in the Bible. I sometimes wish my parents had named me something that sounded sensible, but I guess I wouldn't have as much fun. I've always felt perhaps people don't take me seriously when they hear a name that reminds them of candy. In other ways I love it because of the uniqueness & playfulness.
I agree. It's unbelievable how often it gets mispronounced, how mystified people are about its origins. Irish people are more familiar with it ("Hey! I met a Carmel who's not Irish!") but associate it with their grandmothers. People relate a bit if you tell them it's like Carmela without the end.
Carmel and Marcel are anagrams of each other; they contain the same letters.

Well, when people hear my name they usually think of Caramel.
Karmel - Hated it as a child. Went by KC because my middle name was Celeste and it just worked. But then in Middle/HighSchool I realized how unique it was. It was mine. I still correct people. My go to phrase is, "It's like Carmel California, but with a 'K'."
