I love the name Carmela! It means everything warm, loving, tender, humorous, loyal, beautiful, strong, giving, all wrapped up into one extraordinary grandmother! She was also extremely talented, a true salt of the earth woman, but one who immigrated here on her own at the age of 18. She taught herself english, could sew anything she wanted, and was also very intelligent in the arts, painting, opera, ballet and literature! I loved being named for her, as I went thru the first twenty years in my life in elemetary,middle and high school never ever meeting another one! I was the only one, except for my beautiful Noni. My neice has just honered us by naming her daughter Ava Carmela. I love the name Carmela!
