Cassidy: Meaning, Popularity, Origin of Baby Name Cassidy
Origin of the name Cassidy:
Transferred use of the surname that is derived from the Irish surname O'Caiside which is of uncertain meaning. One historian believes it is derived from the Gaelic elements cas (a twisted lock of hair; ingenious, clever, sly) and the personal suffix -idhe: hence, "clever one, one with the twisted locks." Or from the Gaelic elements cais (love, esteem) and the plenary suffix -de: hence, "full of love and esteem." Short: Cass. Pet: Cassi, Cassie, Cassy.

My cousin's name. Suits her well.
My daughter's name is Cassidy. We did name her after my mother's surname of Irish decent.
There is a little girl at our church with that name, however she spells it Cassidi. It's a sweet name. I like it.
My daughter's name is Cassidy; its a name I have adored since I had a classmate with the name in the early 80's. I am so happy we chose it, it is unique & cute, like our baby. For a nickname we say "Cass" but discourage "Cassie," just our preference. I also love the meaning "curly-haired & clever" because it happens to describe her very well.
