Comments and insights on the name Cerise: | Edit

I think that Cerise is a perfect name, in that it is exotic, uncommon, and unique but it sounds familiar in the pronunciation of the name. It also sounds sweet and if you will; reminds one of the holidays! I would say that the name "Cerise" is a better choice for those who like the name "Serena" but are wary of the overuse of the name Serena and also of the showbiz associations with the name (i.e. Serena from the T.V. show Gossip Girl). Also good for those who like the sound of the name "Denise" but aren't too keen on picking it up, it being a more common name. Cerise creates a similar feel when pronounced, while remaining apart from the rest, in a class of it's own. So, it's simple yet feels like it will never go out of style! I also praise the simple meaning of this name, it simply means "cherry" and I adore simple, uncomplicated meanings of names that still represent something sweet and timeless. Pronounced as: (Seh-reese).

The names "Cherisse, Charisse" and their diminutives (Charys, Cheryss, etc.) are combinations of the two French names "Cherie" and "Cerise."
