Comments and insights on the name Chandra: | Edit

In America, "CH" makes the CHA sound. Like CHAIR or CHEESE. So I don't know why CHANDRA does get the same pronunciation. My name, Chandra, never gets pronounced correctly and it baffles me. It's to the point I just tell people to call me Chan, Like Jackie Chan lol

Personal experiences with the name Chandra: | Edit

My little sister's name is Chandra, a lot of people pronounce is Sandra or CHAN-dra, I have never know why.

This name was a killer for me to learn how to spell when I was 5. People also always assume I am African American, I work in the corporate world and it has had a negative impact on job searches, which has been an eye opener for me, and has adjusted my view of other races.

My name is actually pronounced CHAN-dra, not Shawndra, so people get it wrong all the time. What really gets me is when they don't even come close to calling me by my name, Cassandra or Sandra is really common things I am called. People also assume that I am african american.
