This is my name, pronnounced with CH as in Charcoal. It's Greek for "the grace of God." People mispronounce it often, and kids made fun of it, but I started to like it as a teen and young adult. I would recommend it for babies you hope will grow into unique young women.
My daughter's name is Charis. The CH at the beginning of the word is from the Greek "X" which actually is pronounced with the sound of a "K." So, phonetically, Charis is pronounced "karis." We love it for it's beauty, both in sound and meaning. Our Charis is 2 right now. I pray that she will grow into a lovely woman who fits this beautiful name.
