- Personal experiences with the name Cherie: | Edit
My younger sister is name Cherie. She has trouble with people pronouncing and spelling it wrong. (Usually she gets called 'Cherry'-like the fruit and it is mispelled as 'Sherry'). She also had issues with kids at school calling her 'Scary Cherie' or 'Hairy Cherie'. She has grown to love her name and gets complimented all the time on it. It is pronounced 'Share-EE'.
Every child gets pick on from time to time no matter what their name....they called me "Cherie the flee" and even had a lil song that rhymed but after they seen it didnt bother me they found something else to pick on (my eyes...I had to grow into them lol) point is if you love this name and it has meaning to you dont pass it up cause of the chance she may get picked on I LOVE MY NAME! Always have teasing and all ~ Charisaa1
My name is Cherie and I was never teased on my name it just seemed like no matter how many times I tell some one how to say my name they still call me Sherry or Cherry (again like the fruit) I just learned to answer to anything that sounds remotely close to it LOL!!! I like my name because its unique.
My name is Cherie & I love it. It was actually the name of a character that Marilyn Monroe played in the movie "Bus Stop" from 1956. Funny enough, her character has to constantly correct people on how to pronounce it, which I also go through quite often. I have learned, though, just to answer to "Sherry" when called at a doctor's office or something. I only correct people if I'm going to spend more than 5 minutes with them. Overall, I highly recommend this name for a child, as it is unique & pretty, and I get compliments on it all the time. As an aside, I see that it's popularity peaked in 1967, which is interesting to me because I was born in 1981. I suppose that is why it was unique for me!
My name is Cherie and I thought my name was very unique. My only trouble with it is the pronunciations. Everyone says "Chair-ee" or "Shar-ee" which annoys me a lot. A lot of people pronounce it this way. It is pronounced "Sure-ee" or "Shur-ee" which barely any of my friends know. I get super embarrassed whenever someone sings the song My Cherie Amour by Stevie Wonder and/or call it cute. My friend called it kawaii which made me start blushing so badly. Some of my nicknames are "Cherie Berry" and "Cher Bear" and I have no problems with it. Anyways, I do love my name and it is such a unique nickname!
