Comments and insights on the name Chrysalis: | Edit

My name is Chrysalis. I was named by my dad who is a science professor. The story was that I got my name from the cocoon of the monarch butterfly, which is what a chrysalis is. My sisters are Taffy (older) and Cinnamon (younger), also named by my dad.

Every butterfly pupa is called a chrysalis, not just the monarch butterfly. Butterflies do not have cocoons, either.

Personal experiences with the name Chrysalis: | Edit

I've always loved having this name, but I can see how not everyone would be as comfortable with it. It gives me pride to know that my dad cared enough about his daughter to give her a name that she wouldn't hear everywhere she went. I have yet to meet another Chrysalis, and I like it that way. Most of the time I get "Oh what a pretty name! I've never heard that before." Most people don't know what it means, but simply like the sound of it.
