Dejanira in mythology was Hercules' third wife. She was so dazzlingly gorgeous that he and the river god Achelous had to fight for her hand. Unfortunately, she was tricked by one of those hot, bearded centaurs (Nessus)into making a potion out of certain bizarre ingredients which could potentially ensure that Hercules would never be unfaithful to her. Even more unfortunately, Hercules turned out to be a bit of a player and started having a lot of affairs, which probably made poor Achelous pretty darn angry. At any rate, she added some of her potion to one of Hercules' sexy lionskin shirts, and it turned out Nessus' blood was infused with poison, which caused Hercules to throw himself onto a funeral pyre and Dejanira to kill herself in horror. As we know, this is not the end of the story for Hercules, so Dejanira really got the raw end of the deal.
