I just named my infant Delphine and in one month I have had many misspellings and many questions about how to pronounce. Have already seen Delphin, Delfina, Dolphin & Delphone. Many people say that they never heard of the name. I still love the name and yet am surprised at the reaction it has received.

Delphi is a Greek city, which in ancient times was the site of the famous Delphic oracle. The name of this ancient Greek city possibly relates to the Greek word δελφις ("dolphin")
