- Personal experiences with the name Dona: | Edit
Dona is my name. All my life I have had to correct spelling, repeat it over and over and have people think my name is Donna, Dana, Dora, Donut. Arg. It is a terrible name. I hope it disappears quietly and no one plans to name their child this in the future. I have started going by the name Eddie because it is just easier for my life and self-esteem. Hope this helps.
My name is Dona, I have been called Dana and Dora. It has been spelt both ways as well as Donna. It is very difficult to get people to change.
My Aunt's name, though she has always gone by her middle name instead. Her sister's name is Tona and it rhymes.

There is a Jewish folk song called Dona Dona Dona. It is not about the name exactly and I think the name is used only because it sounds good in a chorus. It is about a calf going to slaughter. I hear this a lot when I tell people my name.
